Abstract

Recent advances in power electronics and digital control systems have made electrical drives widespread in military and civilian applications where reliability and robustness is of great importance. In the field of mobile robotic systems – such as unmanned ground and air vehicles – electric motors are expected to work perfectly also in wild environmental circumstances. In order to select and construct the most appropriate electrical drive meeting the requirements of military standards the physical behavior and the control theory of different motor constructions have to be investigated.
