Abstract

Tribological behaviour – friction, wear and lubrication – of machine elements highly depends on the operating state and also the original topography of working pair.
The aim of this study was to compare the capability of two fractal characterisation methods for profiles in case of different machining techniques. Power spectral density and height diference correlation funcion was used to calculate the fractal dimension.
