Algoritmust fejlesztettem ki a 3D-s felületi topográfia orientációjának vizsgálatára. Az algoritmus a kidolgozott szeletelő technika révén közvetlenül a topográfiai mérések adathalmazát felhasználva definiálja az érdességcsúcsokat és a völgyeket. A módszer érdességcsúcsként értelmezi a szeletelő sík fölött elhelyezkedő összefüggő ponthalmazokat, majd meghatározza ezek irányultságát. A felületi topográfia orientációjának meghatározására az érdességcsú és völgy analízis eredményeinek eloszlásgörbéit használja föl.
Számos érdességmérés és koptatóvizsgálat eredményeit fölhasználva teszteltem a kidolgozott algoritmus alkalmazhatóságát. A vizsgálatok a laboratóriumi szintű mérésektől egészen az üzemi körülmények közötti vizsgálatokig terjedtek fém-fém és fém-kerámia anyagpárok esetén. Száraz és kent súrlódás, valamint gördülés egyaránt szerepelt a vizsgálatok sorában.
Az elemzések eredményeképpen az alábbi megállapításokra jutottam: a kidolgozott módszer hatékony és jól alkalmazható eszköze a felületei topográfia orientációs vizsgálatának. Megbízható eredményeket szolgáltat több eltérő orientációs iránnyal rendelkező felület esetén is. A mélység irányú elemzés, valamint a völgy és csúcszóna szeparálása révén igen hatékony segítője lehet komplex tribológiai vizsgálatoknak.
